Debbie Thomson

Hello, I’m Debbie, a qualified Transactional Analysis (TA) Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and trainee Integrative Psychotherapist. I understand from my own personal journey of psychotherapy how difficult it can be to allow yourself to be vulnerable and ask for help. It takes courage and strength to access therapy and reaching out is often the hardest step.

Having worked in mental health services for almost 20 years, I developed significant experience and a genuine passion in helping people with mental health difficulties; in particular, with adults and young people struggling with eating disorders or eating difficulties, and obsessive-compulsive behaviours.

I’m warm and nurturing in my approach and believe everybody has a need to be seen, heard, and validated. I combine my experience, psychoeducational and relational skills into my practice and my main therapeutic modality is TA but I do bring other models into my work. I favour working co-creatively and encourage creativity in the therapy space.

I work with adult individuals and couples. I also work with young people aged 16+. I prefer to work with clients face to face but I do work online too (only with individual clients).
